Welcome to Mr. Valentijn's NewScene.TV site!

So just who is this Mr.V? Nico Valentijn is one out of over 900+ members of the last graduating class of Elkhart High School. He is currently a Director of Media, a Media Specialist, a Technology Coordinator, college instructor and a member of the Apple Certification Alliance.

He was born in Amsterdam and shortly after his third birthday his family moved to the Midwestern United States. His family always recorded memories with a camera... remember that Zeiss Ikon or the Kodak Brownie?

So, it was not a surprise when he graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications (major) and History/Photo (minor). His Master's degree is in Information Science and he is currently a doctoral candidate in Instructional Technology.

His participation in unique educational settings at Ball State University's London Centre and Earlham College's Learning and Teaching About Japan has lent him a varied view of the world we live in.... and so the journey continues.

NewScene

Since 1966 the Television Production and Digital Media classes have been producing daily news announcements and broadcasting them into every classroom and office.

The purpose of NewScene is to provide activities for students wanting to study communications and the visual arts. The goal is for students to improve their skills in all areas of broadcasting in order to help them decide their goals.

New Media

The Digital Media classes, soon to transform to New Media, encourages students to step over the threshold of current thought and discover their undiscovered future. New Media has a comprehensive, state-of-the-art curriculum that let students explore audio, video and still aspects of media in today's global world market both as talent and production personnel. Students have a wide selection of courses from which to choose form in order to prepare for post-secondary institutions, vocational training, and on-the-job employment. Students may complete a four year planning guide. Students are required to complete juried presentations, work on community based media projects, all while working with current leading edge technologies and software like Final Cut Pro, Motion and Shake.

As member of the National Press Photographers Association Nico Valentijn has taken photos that are visual history elements of the community we live in… while other photos portray other artistic aspects of nature and landscapes. Founded in 1946, The NPPA continues to attract the best in news photography, video and multimedia. It is this professional diversity that sets the NPPA apart from other organizations. NPPA is an organization renowned for its expertise, ethics, and ideals as well as an organization dedicated to advancing this profession into the rapidly changing 21st century.
